BreyerWest Loot

I've been enjoying looking at people's pictures of their loot from Breyerfest.  (Even if it makes me wish even more that I'd been there!)  It is fascinating to see what kind of things might be available there and makes me all the more sure that I HAVE to go, one of these years.  I'm hoping maybe the first year we are back in the States (or maybe the year after, since we might be moving in summer or fall), not sure yet.

Part of me doesn't want to think about it at all, because - as I've said before - I LOVE Japan and don't want to leave.  An event like Breyerfest though is something to look forward to when I am uprooted again.

Seeing all of the loot pictures and blog posts reminds me that I had wanted to share the new additions to my herd made at BreyerWEST, and on my Epic U.S. trip in general.

So, without further ado...

In summary: I bought a few OFs, to stay OF, and a lot of bodies.  I won a few tiles at A Good Vintage and won a few ribbons (plus one NAN card) at the BreyerWest Open Show.

The most unique (to my current collection) thing that I bought is this dude (the rider):

He is my first ever actual doll for Breyers.  When I was a kid, I used Barbie dolls or, most often, no people at all.

I could go into detail about all of the new additions and a few of them might make their way into having their own Model Horse Profile feature someday.

Right now though, I wanted to highlight a couple of horses that joined the herd from other parts of the trip.

I haven't seen a new Breyer that I was really excited about and *had* to have in quite some time.  Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of beautiful Breyers out there, especially nowadays, but I don't consider myself much of an OF collector anymore and while I can appreciate a pretty new mold or color, it's been a while since I saw a new OF and thought "I've got to have that!"

Until this one:

She will definitely be getting her own post.

For now, I'll say that she is extra special to me, because...  I bought her at a Breyer dealer ON Chinoteague Island!!

Next up in the acquired post-BW department is this dapper fellow.  His name is Marshmallow and he was given to me by my friend, Susan!

He will be getting his own exciting posts, because he is the latest to join the traveling herd and, much like Chewie, is already having his own adventures in Japan!

Motivation Monday - Keep Fighting

I have been...  down for quite a while now.  Truth be told, I've been dealing with some heavy depression ever since my big trip, back in March-April-May.  Friends and regular readers will know that depression is no stranger to me.   I suppose a bit of a clue from the outside that it has a tighter hold on me is when I stop blogging.  I enjoy blogging, I have a ton of stuff I'd like to share and quite a backlog - especially now when I'm still posting about The Trip, while plenty more blog worthy events have happened since then.

Truthfully "The Trip" could have been a month's worth of daily posts, and I certainly intended it to be, but I wasn't ready for the onslaught of emotions that would hit me during and after the adventure.  I think the "trip report" posts are winding down now.  I'd like to do one or two more - tomorrow's post will be about my loot from BreyerWest - in the spirit of the Breyerfest loot picture and post sharing that I've seen.  However, there are plenty of newer things to talk about and I'd like to do that.

I've got a few more hours (U.S. time) to squeeze in a Motivation Monday post, so I figured it'd be a good way to start the week.  As always, I hope it's a good one for you!

Epic U.S. Trip - People

I don't like having my picture taken, I never have.  Maybe it's because I'm introverted, shy, and don't consider myself photogenic - at all.

However, on my Epic Trip, I decided to put that aside and try to get pictures of not just sights and people along the way, but ME with people along the way.  I didn't capture nearly everyone, but here are some of the people that I visited with during my travels.

(they are in no particular order, other than chronological along the trip's route)

My friend Jennifer Buxton

My Granny - we took a "selfie"

My Dad.  We only just met a few years ago - long story

Grandma, Dad's mom

My brother, Michael

My daughter

Finally met Susan Bensema Young! (another quick "selfie")

My dressage instructor and friend, Judi.
She was in a horrible accident last year and I was afraid I'd never see her again.
I feel so fortunate to have been able to visit with her on this trip.

The next batch are out of order, since they were taken during the first stop of my trip.  I met a TON of people at BreyerWest.  I was trying not to fangirl too hardcore there, finally having a chance to meet so many hobby people that I've admired online for a long time.  I didn't get a chance to visit with some of them as much as I would have liked, but the people I did get to visit with were all awesome.

Erin Corbett - the one behind it all!

Simrat Khalsa - I actually knew her from my involvement in Spanish Mustangs
before I realized she was an artist!  We hadn't met in person before BW.

Maggie Bennett - she was so nice and helpful!

Crazy crew, haha - left to right: Me, Barrie, Suzanne, Tina, Debbie, Amanda.
We met up, hung out a little bit, and had a silly night at Denny's.
(Suzanne was my roommate at the Phoenix)

Epic U.S. Trip - BW Swap and A Good Vintage

I really don't know where time is going this spring/summer.  In my defense, I have been BUSY making things - on the Studio end and also hopping with a steady stream of small orders for our laser business.  Anyhow, here's a fairly quick post about the Swap Meet and the edition of A Good Vintage that was held at BreyerWest 2017.

Picking up where I left of, after the Open Show, it was time to get to The Phoenix (Inn) to check in, dump some stuff in the room, and rush to the Swap Meet.

Here was my table, once it was set up and I had a chance to take pictures.  Some things I had up for offer had already sold by this point.  (yay!)

I tried to bring a good selection in a small package (about half of one of my suitcases).  Up for sale were saddle pads, a handful of CM Stablemates...

... also some of my stablemate blankets, and a couple of Arabian presentation collars, with Cassie modeling Antar's set.  I also brought a few piles of tassels to show some of the "coming soon" planned color combinations.

On the other end of the table were the laser goods, all model horse themed.  Saddle stands, desktop plaques, ornaments, and demo stall signs.  I had greatly reduced the price on the saddle stands (since they took up the most room in my suitcase and I was buying horses!  haha)

After the Swap Meet, which was a lot of fun - I sold several things and..  bought several things, it was time to go back to the room and attempt to rest up for...

A Good Vintage!

A Good Vintage was held at BreyerWest on Saturday March 25, 2017.  I was more ready for this one than the Open Show, or so I thought.  The Open Show had been sold out, so I thought the only horses I'd get to show would be my "oldies".  However, a couple of last minute openings for the Open show had popped up, so I'd brought a LOT more horses than just 10 for AGV.  They might have been picked out first, but I was still writing out my cards to put with them...  the night before, after the Swap Meet.

After setting up my herd of vintage customs, I took some quick pictures.

From left to right:

Reckless (wearing his amazing halter from Jennifer Buxton) and his "son", Hazard.

(most of the stablemate crew were featured in a post I wrote about my old custom horses)

Hawke Nevarre, Crown Royale, and Days in Avalon.

Maskav, Backflip, and Showtime.

Ashley was there too, I just love her.

As soon as I got my little herd set up, I had to go to the first workshop that I'd signed up for, so I was occupied for the majority of the Vintage show.  When the workshop was over, I took pictures of most - if not all! - of the vintage customs that were entered.  Here are a few of my favorites:

(I think this one was the big winner in the end)

Some of the prizes - they were beautiful!!

I was SO thrilled to find that three of my entries had been awarded tiles.  Ashley (hers is a pretty pink - perfect), Crown Royale, and...  Reckless!  Yes, I teared up a little; so proud of my old man!!

It was another wonderful day.  In addition to the Vintage show, I attended two workshops and I hope to talk about them too.  The educational offerings of BreyerWest were a huge draw for me.
