Been a Long Time Coming

After wanting to get back to it for a long, long time, tonight I decided to shove the To-Do list aside, dust off the paintbrushes and work on a horse.

Here are a few pictures of the in progress creation.  He will be a flashy Mustang stallion.

He started off as a Breyer Stablemate that I sanded, prepped, and primed.  Then I painted him with several thin coats of black acrylic.  Afterwards I spent a while trying do decide on the pattern.  I had my heart set on doing a wildly spotted Appaloosa, but in the end I decided on as a splash white pinto pattern.  The term splash white comes from the horse looking like they were dipped in white paint, or as if it was "splashed" on from the bottom.

I'm not quite happy with his pattern, I think I'll end up adding more white.  I really like how his left shoulder looks where the white spikes up.  I'll probably end up adding more white on his other side.

Still a work in progress, but it's a start!
