Motivation Monday: Feel The Sun

Another Monday has found us, *shhhh* it can't see us if we don't move!  Actually, if you've read my blog for a while, you might know that I like Mondays.  I view them as a chance for a fresh start.  I'm excited about what this week has to offer and we kicked it off right today by going on a 15 mile bicycle ride - me with my (oh so slowly) healing sprained ankle and all.  I have some pretty big goals that I'm going to start working towards, fitness being one of them.  I was working towards that when sidelined with this latest injury, but I'm finally back on the horse (bike) officially as of today.

As always, I hope everyone has a good week.

Quick Post: Travel Posts Pending

I've heard a few times that people enjoy my posts about Japan and I have so many more things I could share and post about.  I think I'm going to start a semi-regular feature on here with one of the daily themes.  Maybe "Travel Tuesday"?  Jeff has been off this past week and we've done a couple of trips on his motorcycle and have seen some (more) really neat things.

As a preview of the planned upcoming travel posts, here's a picture that I took just a few days ago at a national park along the coast a ways south of us.

Show String: New Faces

Last month I sent off my first entry for the 2017-2018 show year with MEPSA.  The results for the first division (OF) came out yesterday.  I thought it'd be fun to share several of the new faces that went to the show.

However, first is an old face, he showed last year, but I'm happy to say that he placed 2nd in the Arabian class at this first show, qualifying him for next year's Championship already.

His name is Denar.

Some of the "new" additions already had names and have gone to some live shows before we all moved to Japan.

All of the rest of these pictures were taken last October at the beach, looking east across the Pacific.

This is Strawberry Fizz:

Big and Rich:

Now to some horses that needed names.  I pulled inspiration from song titles and...  mostly from Game of Thrones.

Shameless, named after a song by The Weeknd:

Party Monster, another The Weeknd song.  She placed in Light Type Mare and the American Saddlebred class:

The North Remembers, from Game of Thrones.  He placed 2nd in Appaloosa color, qualifying him for the Championship next year.  He also earned top tens in Light Stallion and Carriage Breeds.

Kissed by Fire, another Game of Thrones-named horse:

Red Viper, another from GoT:

Cookies n' Cream, my daughter actually named him for me a few years ago.  I set her pictures of a few unnamed horses, before I went to a live show, and that's what she named him.  For his MEPSA debut, he placed 3rd in Appaloosa breed, qualifying for the Championships.  He also got in the top ten for Stock gelding and Appaloosa color:

Attraction, he's one that's had a name for a while now.  I named him after the theatre group that does stories using shadows, they were on Britain's Got Talent (or some related show) and were amazing:

Oathkeeper, another Game of Thrones-inspired name:

Galaxy, he's had that name for a long time:

Eastwatch, another from Game of Thrones:

Breaker of Chains, one of Daenerys Targaryen's (many) titles in Game of Thrones:

Jose, a little Donkey custom that I painted a looong time ago:

Samuel, another Donkey foal that I painted many years ago:

Roberto, the third amigo, Donkey foal custom I painted a long time ago:

Stormborn, another of Daenerys Targaryen's names in Game of Thrones:

Siglavy Estaria, someday I need to create a mare named Estaria, this is already her second son.  I also have an old custom Lipizzaner of mine that I named Pluto Estaria:

Dark Words, another inspiration from Game of Thrones:

Blackwater, yet another Game of Thrones name.  He placed 2nd in the Clydesdale/Shire class!:

Spoils of War, another from Game of Thrones, but the phrase is a common one anyway:

Chimney Sweeper...  I have no idea, he looked sooty, his tail is kind of sweeping the ground...?  Sometimes I come up with epic names, sometimes I don't.  Haha, I still like this one though:

I'm eagerly and anxiously awaiting the results from the AR and CM divisions of this first show.  It's fun to show OF, but the AR/CM horses are the ones I'm most invested in.  ;)

Friday Funny: Fabulous

A quick post for today; I've got a goal to get back to daily posts this month, but right now I'm pooped.  We just got home from an all day motorcycle trip - saw a lot of beautiful stuff!

I'm not sure we saw anything quite as fabulous as this though:

Box of Awesome

Yesterday I received a box full of awesome from Australia:

This is what I had actually ordered: a book on plaits (braids for Americans *wink*), and kangaroo lace: jacaranda, black, natural in two widths, and white.

However, also in the box were 4 pieces of kangaroo leather in beautiful colors - the white piece in particular is stunning!

As if that wasn't enough of a surprise, there was also a bundle of brightly colored pieces of lace!

I am so excited to use this stuff!

If you are in the market for some kangaroo lace or leather, I HIGHLY recommend Pete from Leather Roo.  He has good prices, a lot of variety, fast shipping, and will cut lace for you if he doesn't have something listed that you are looking for.  He's all around great to deal with!  You can find his listings on Etsy, or eBay, or you can contact him directly via e-mail, here's his address: sales(at)leatherroo.com.

I will definitely be ordering from him again!   But first, I need to get busy with what I've got.  ;)

Show Prepping

*sings*

"It's beginning to look a lot like shooow tiiiime"

The past two days I've been prepping my show string for the new year of showing with MEPSA.

The crew this time around includes all of the old favorites:

as well as 40-some odd new faces!

In all, I'll be sending about 90 photos off tomorrow for my first show of the new show year!  This almost doubles my regular string from last year, which hovered around 55 photos.  I wanted to "go bigger" this year, so that's just what I'm doing!  I'm also thinking I may rotate horses out this year as they qualify and put more new horses in, so that I can maybe get a BUNCH of horses qualified for next year's Championship.

I'm still anxiously awaiting the results from the current Championship Show and I'll be sure to post about it when they get here!

Motivation Monday: Don't Stop Trying

A quick one today as I'm running in a few different directions right now!  (par for the course)

I've come across this saying before and saw this again just a few days ago.  It's one of my favorites and something I feel I certainly needed a reminder of - maybe you do too?  I'm ashamed to say that I've stopped trying, um, several times in my life, but I haven't yet totally given up on some big dreams.  So I've got to go now and get back to working on some of them!

As always, I hope you have a great week!
