First Project of 2016 - Lapis Lazuli Saddlepad

My first official project to be worked on in 2016 is a cross stitch saddle pad, specifically another done from my "Lapis Lazuli" pattern.

The first was, what I considered at the time, the best saddle pad I'd made.  It sold at the very first show that I offered my saddle pads for sale.

It was inspired by the colors of my favorite semi-precious stone, lapis lazuli, and was the first (and so far only) time that I used metallic floss on a pad.  I had pulled the colors right off of a big chunk of lapis that Jeff had bought for me during one of his deployments to Afghanistan.

I was sort of sad to see the "lapis pad" go, but I was very happy to have had the chance to meet and chat with its new owner.  I told him that I loved the pad so much, I might make another one.  "No!" he had exclaimed, laughing.  Well, a little over a year later, I have indeed started on another one (with a couple of small changes).  However, this one isn't going anywhere - this lapis pad is mine!  :)

Horses = Great Start To The Year

While I didn't see any horses on New Years' Day, I came close.

This happened today....

We went and saw the wild horses again!

I'll do a proper post about them in the next couple of days.  ;)

Tiny Tack Tuesday?

Maybe this needs to be a thing since I'm on a mini tack/prop kick...  haha


Today I'll be working on something...  tiny.

Also, a sighting in the studio.  How is that comfortable?

Cats...  they manage to look comfortable pretty much anywhere.

The critters are keeping me company in the studio on this beautiful, snowy day.

Motivation Monday - Seriously

Well, I'm sliding in toward the END of Monday on this one, but I thought I'd share a picture anyway.  I'm still pondering my goals for 2016 - and reflecting on how much I didn't get done this year...  I'm thinking I can wrap up what I'd like to happen in the future with just this one picture:

Sometimes (often times?) I have trouble being serious about my dreams.  That causes many problems, of course.  So, yeah, I think it's time to get serious.

Tassels and Snow

About all I have to report for the last couple of days is:

1. I'm making a ton of tassels.

2. We got our first REAL snow.

On the tassel front, I did decide to go with my first thought of two pinks, I just couldn't get brown to look right.  So this is the color scheme for the tassels:

Today my supervisor stopped by to check on my work.

Altogether I have 90 tassels now and I think that's enough for what I have in mind.  Hopefully tomorrow I can get more costume work done.

We woke up to this!

We've had a dusting out two of snow so far, but this was the first good snowfall that we've seen.  I am loving it!  I love snow.  Yeah, maybe I'm weird...
